We received a desperate call for help. This dog almost gave up on life because it was so bad. He was exhausted, very weak, and no longer had the strength to stand. Most of all, he was suffering from severe infection and anemia. When we arrived, we were shocked by a horrific scene.
Dead dogs and others on the verge of death were lying on top of each other. They were just skin and bones, without water or food. Three of them were eating the corpse of someone who didn’t survive. It is not known how long they were held here or who was responsible for them. They had to be taken to the vet immediately to increase their chances of survival.
Our Bono boy was still in pretty bad shape. He was suffering from a severe infection and anemia, but fortunately, his condition was improving. He arrived very weak, and as if that wasn’t enough, his injured tail was infested with worms. His recovery will be slower, but we will make sure he gets everything he needs to regain his strength and health.
He is being monitored by a gastroenterologist, hematologist, physician, and surgeon. He has no estimated discharge date and remains hospitalized. Bono became more active after that. He was able to keep his head upright, and his eyes were much better. He is still very thin and highly infected, but he will have a prepared consultation in the next few days if his health permits.
When he gets stronger, he will have to have the rest of his tail amputated. Fortunately, Bono no longer has diarrhea, which is one less thing to worry about for this little guy. However, his blood test results were still poor, and he was suffering from severe anemia. Bono’s weight was 19.7 kg before, and now he weighs 21.6 kg.
Bono’s condition was terrible, and he will undergo stomach treatment on Monday. His health condition has improved, and we will have to amputate the rest of his injured tail. The positive thing is that the baby started eating on his own! Please join us in accompanying this dog. I believe he will impress all of you.
